A note with the first book reads: Ehon Yamato - a work or drawing with instruction in regard to washes, colors, etc. and model drawings of landscapes, people, historical scenes, and others. 10 volumes. Published 1716, a color edition in 1742. This set is dated Jan 1742. Nishikawa Sukenobu, 1671-1751. Born in Kyoto he spent the latter part of his life in Osaka. P. 130 of Louise Bronne's Block Printing, etc.

Object Description
Book from a ten volume set of Japanese subjects, containing 27 black and white illustrations of landscapes and animals. Engraved by Fujimura Zemyemon and Murikami Genyemon, Kyoto.
