Commentary
Old number: "L1780/12" written in pencil on the backing paper.
Marks
Signed, with a square red ink seal, in the upper right border. There is a large Ch'ien Lung seal in red ink stamped in the center of the upper border of the image. There is a vertical strip of brocade with characters written upon it, afixed to the upper right corner on the back.
Medium
Black ink brushed onto paper, with a light grey silk brocade border.

Mounted vertical scroll depicting a close-up portrait of a Lohan, with an anxious or distressed expression. The lohan is bald, with a long beard and mustache, and a large hoop earring in his left earlobe.
