Slip cast stoneware with glaze, clear crackle glaze, and porcelain slip.

Object Description
Broad shouldered formal vase form. The shoulder and base are banded with enscribed patterning (leaf/rock on the shoulder, and wave/ripple on the base). Both are glazed matte black. A porcelain slip gives the cobalt blue painting a white halo. The painting depicts a lakeside monestary with hills in the distance, and monks engaged in various activities. There is a clear glaze over the belly, rim and interior that crackles on the clay body.
