Multicolored enamels and glitter on a cast copper base.
Object Description
Japanese cloisonée lidded teapot, with a butterfly and floral pattern executed in multicolored enamels within a diagonally striped ground. The ground consists of stripes of copper with glitter, dark green, brick red. and cobalt. The bottom of the teapot has a teal colored ground with a central orange flower, and spiral cloisons. There are small tripod feet at the base of the pot. A teal floral band decorates the top area of the pot. The handle and spout are both enamelled in black with circular cloisons. The lid i round and slightly domed with a stupa shaped handle. It is enamelled in dark green with small areas done in copper glitter, and a floral pattern. The interior of the lid is dark tuquoise, and the interior of the teapot is black.
