Multicolored enamels on a brown enamel ground, over a cast brass base.
Object Description
Tall, cylindrical Japanese cloisonée vase, with a wider top which narrows to the mouth. The vase is decorated with three bird, flower, and butterfly reserves (one of the bird reserves may be a phoenix) executed in dark enamels. The decoration in the three reserves are created against orange-brown, yellow-brown, and copper glitter grounds. The body of the vase is also brown, with floral patterning. The foot and neck have bands of flowers as well.
