There is a label afixed to the bottom of each piece, one reads: "72/974/WF2t/GDE/1-25." The other reads the same, ending in 1-26." A sticker reading "96Y" in red ink is stuck to the back one of crane, and a sticker that reads "96X" is in the same position on the other bird.

Turquoise and multicolored enamels on cast bronze, with gilding.

Object Description
Pair of turquoise ground enamel cloisonée cranes, with wings that detach to reveal a compartment within the object. One bird is positioned with it's head craned down toward it's foot, with the opposite foot raised and resting on a rock base. The other bird is in mirror position.
