Object Description
Folding Japanese fan, for export. The fan has ribs that appear to be lacquered wood, with monk-type figures painted in gold. The fan is of paper, with scenes on both sides. The subject matter of the scenes is indistinguishable, but very busy. The figures depicted on the fan are collaged - the costumes are of fabric glued to the fan face, and the faces of the figures are of plastic, also glued on. The style of the depiction is asian, but the faces of the figures look european. Not of high quality.
