There is one laquered hole in the bottom of main box.

There is a label on the bottom of the outer box which reads: "Made in Japan."

Carved wood boxes gold lacquer, on a mahogany lacquer ground. The decoration is executed in pink, silver and gold hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, e-nashiji, and kirikane.

Object Description
Medium rectangular box with lidwith gold lacquer on the exterior top and sides, and black and gold lacquer flecks over a mahogany lacquer ground on the bottom. Inside the box is a gold lacquered tray, beneath which are four smaller boxes with lids, in the same laquer. All five tops have designs of birds and flowers in gold, silver, and pinkish tones.
