There is a label accompanying the boxes which reads "fine 'Makie' decoration / Kirby Collection."

Box: 10 1/2 in. x 19 11/16 in. x 11 13/16 in.

There is kanji text painted on the top of the box lid, and paper with kanji writing glued on next to this. There is a label reading "592" and another reading "2" on the exterior of each lacquer box, on the bottom. The lid of one box has a label reading "3906, $250.00 ea." on the interior, and the other lid has a label on the interior which reads "55."

Carved wooden boxes and lids, with black and gold lacquer and enamel decoration. Bronze knobs. Storage box is black lacquered wood lined with white paper.

Object Description
Set of two octagonal lidded boxes, in a black lacquer storage box with two compartments, lined with white paper. The set of boxes are finished with black and gold flecked lacquer on the interior and exteriors of both boxes and lids. Stylized gold enamel flowers decorate the exterior of the boxes and lids. The lids have flower-shaped bronze knobs in the center.
