Object Description
Large Japanese cloisonné platter with a matte texture. This piece of 19th century export ware displays three fan-shaped silhouettes on the inside within which are shown the "Seven Sages in a Bamboo Grove" and flowering shrubs, insects, and general landscape scenes. The decoration is executed in multicolored cool toned enamels. The bottom of the platter has a brown enamel with gold curlique cloisons, and glossy turquoise enamel in the center.
