Grey and colored enamels on bronze, with some gilded brass.

Object Description
Pair of large Chinese cloisonné elephants, standing, with trunks hanging down and bodies covered with grey cloisonné enamels. The elephants are a mirror image pair, and are richly decorated with elaborate trappings and jewels in yellows, blues, etc. The ears are removable gilded brass and there is a removable lotus medallion plaque, loosely attached at the navel of each elephant. On the underside is a Ch'ien Lung plaque which is engravel, enameled, and gilded.
