Object Description
Edo period color woodblock print with an image of an actor. This actor clearly portrays a villain, cloaked in black with a clenched jaw and his hand prominently grasping his sword. Similar in style to Kuniteru II’s print, it also emphasizes the dramatic expression of the actor, in this case, by framing it with a black hood. Additionally, the line of the actor’s body positioned against the diagonal of the background structure creates a dynamic X-shaped composition.
