Commentary
Old number "L1136/157" written in pencil on the backing paper. Listed in the Munthe inventory (p.157) as a "Very fine landscape in Sung style. Ming. Wrongly attributed (previously) to Wang An-shi, who was a statesman and reformer, but merely 'a tenth-rate painter' (Giles, p. 104). His signature on the picture is quite a recent addition.

Black ink brushed onto silk, with an off-white silk border.
Object Description
Mounted vertical scroll of a vast landscape containing trees, mountains, and water. A house is seen in the lower left with a view into the interior, showing many people. Others are walking on a path which leads to the house.
