Exploring Black urban life and the blending of culture and music, Paul F. Keene’s work in acrylic paint is featured across the globe. Keene worked in a variety of media, finding a home in bright and vivid acrylic paintings, and his works can be found in collections such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Dallas Museum of Art, and the British Museum in London.
In 1952, Keene received the John J. Whitney fellowship to study and teach in Haiti. When returning to the United States, Keene continued his teaching career at the Philadelphia College of Art and Bucks County Community College. For over two decades he produced prints with the Brandywine Workshop in Pennsylvania, and in 1990 received its Van Der Zee Award.
