Kan-ichi Araki was a painter. He was known also by his pseudonym of Baiinsai.

Adopted as son by Kankai Araki in his infancy, who taught him his craft. Seigai Sakurama, too, was his teacher.

After the Meiji Restoration (1868), he had the honor of painting on cedarboard screens in the Imperial Palace.
