Takahashi Rakusai IV (b.1925). The Takahashi family--along with the Ueda family--is one of the longest potting families in Shigaraki and is largely responsible for preserving traditions, especially after the second world war. Without the Takahashi's families persistence--like the Kaneshige family in Bizen--the flames of Shigaraki might have been extinguished forever. In 1964, Rakusai III was designated a Shigaraki Intangible Cultural Property.
Rakusai IV studied under his father.
