Japanese-style painter and printmaker. Born in Tokyo in the house of his uncle, the painter Matsumoro Fuko, under whom he trained as a painter. Made illustrations for scientific textbooks, magazines, and newspapers, and, after 1907, made prints, chiefly of temples, for export to Europe and America. His early go was Shotei. After 1921 he used the go of Hiroaki. The blocks for his prints were destroyed in the great earthquake of 1923.
