Theodore Robinson
19th c Painter
American,
(1852–1896)
Robinson was born in Vermont, and studied art in Chicago and New York, and in Paris at the Académie Julian. Though born in America Robinson spent much of his time in France with Impressionists such as Monet and Pissarro. His work
reflects the influence of French Impressionism which developed through these relationships, but also shows a divergence from classic French Impressionism in his concern for drawing and structure.
