American, (1882–1971)
b. June 21, 1882 in Tarrytown, New York; d. 1971 in New York.
Pupil of Chase at Columbia; Henri; Hayes Miller; and Thayer. WPA artist, author and illustrator of numerous books. Trained in architecture at Columbia University, New York. Works at the Whitney; Art Institute in Chicago; and Brooklyn Museum in New York.
