Steven and Susan Kemenyffy

American, b. 1943/1941
Susan Kemenyffy was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and studied at Syracuse University, the Art Students League, the University of Illinois in Champaign, and received an M.A. and M.F.A. from the University of Iowa.  She has taught at the University of Wisconsin and was an assistant professor of art at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania from 1974 to 1978.

Steven Kemenyffy studied at Augustana College in Illinois and received an M.A. and M.F.A. from the University of Iowa.  He taught at the universities of Iowa and Wisconsin and has been professor of art at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania since 1969.

Though the Kemenyffys collaborate on their own work, they have their own areas of concentration and there is no exchange of ideas between the two while they work.  Steven is responsible for the production of the dimensional clay forms and for the firing.  Susan does the decorating and applies the glaze.
