Philip Latimer Dike
20th century Modern Muralist, watercolorist
American, (1906–1990)
California-style watercolor artist. Study: Chouinard Art Institute with F. Tolles Chamberlin and Clarence Hinkle; also at the Art Students' League in New York. Learned fresco painting and mural decoration at the American Academy in Fontainbleau, France. Worked for Disney studios from 1935-1945 and was on the faculty at Scripps College and the Claremont Graduate School from 1969-1980. Known for his works of seascapes, sky, birds, and nature which reflect a luminosity.
