American, b. 1945
Collins studied at Knox College in Illinois, where he worked with Dennis Parks. After receiving his B.A. there in 1967, he went on to the Art Institute of Chicago, where he worked with Tomiya Matsuda, Bill Farrell, Don Reitz, and Rudy Autio. He received an M.F.A. at the Claremont Graduate School, under Paul Soldner and Jerry Rothman, in 1971. He taught at the Art Institute of Chicago from 1968-1969, and at Pasadena City College in California from 1970-1971. He continues to work in clay and teach in Sonoma, California.
