Barry Coffin is a sculptor and painter whose works reside in the permanent collection of the New Mexico Museum of Fine Arts, the Heard Museum, the Denver Art Museum, the Wheelwright Museum and the Museum of the Institute of American Indian Arts, as well as in myriad private collections.
Coffin is a Potawatomi and Creek Indian, and was born in Lawrence, Kansas, in 1947. He received his B.F.A. from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, and is a founding member of Artists in Support of American Indian Religious Freedom.
Barry Coffin has won awards in major annual exhibits of American Indian Art for his sculpture in ceramic, bronze, and stone. He has shown extensively through the southwest.
