Sybil Andrews was born in Suffolk, England, in 1898. She studied at the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London (under Henry G. Massey and Boris Heroys). Andrews settled in British Columbia in 1947. Her career spanned painting and printmaking, and she worked in oils, watercolors, drypoint and color linocut. Her work was influenced by the 5th and 6th century artists of Greece, the Chinese carvers of the Han dynasty, and the medieval art of Britain and Europe. She taught at Campbell River District of B.C., and has works in the Victoria &Albert Museum, London; Leeds, England; Dublin, Ireland; Los Angeles, California.
