Commentary
"Their pottery, as exemplified in Lidded Container, a stoneware pot, c.1960, is expertly thrown and classic in shape. Decoration is applied to accentuate, rather than compete with, the shape of the vessel. Throughout their career, the Heinos have produced ceramics in a variety of shapes and surface decoration, including architectural elements. All are closely tied to utilitarian forms and are marked by simplicity and understatement."
(Kay Koeninger, Revolution in Clay, 1994, pg. 20)
